Climate Change

The recent spike in the price of gasoline for American consumers has elevated the need for a comprehensive national energy strategy again. The United States has failed to pass a comprehensive plan, allow increased domestic oil exploration, or adequately invest in existing energy producing resources. The national energy strategy must promote domestic production and facilitate the construction of additional generation, refinery, and transmission capacity. The Wisconsin business community supports safe and responsible energy exploration and development, investing in clean and renewable energy sources, and reducing our nation's dependence on foreign oil.

At the same time, policymakers are deciding whether and how to regulate greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate against the potential impacts of climate change. Their actions could have a substantial impact on the economy and may impact the ability of public and private owners to build new or modify existing structures. The business community supports reasonable climate change policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also maintain the competitiveness of U.S. Companies in the global marketplace and allow needed construction activities to proceed.
